Project; supercow, final blog entry
This would be my final blog entry for project; supercow, i.e. design studio i. Definitely not my last entry, because I’ll still try my best to keep the blog going. it’s been one hell of a semester, especially having to go through studio i. At the very start, I must admit that I was rather lost by the whole subject, which was interaction design. I never knew what it was, and how we as communication designers would be involved.
I went through the whole design process and learnt what interaction design is all about. For example, I knew what roles to take to understand the user, so as to propose better interfaces. The purpose of the whole design research process is not about thinking of a solution right away. It is about understanding the problem as a whole, getting more information through research methods, putting yourself in another person’s shoes, and then, solving the problem, with the user in mind.
The blog definitely helped me through drafting out the essay, as I posted weekly updates on how my team had been going, and what job each of us had been delegated. At first, I find it a chore, but as time passed, the blog became a habit. It’s not only about design studio i, but also interesting stuff that I’ve found on the net. As how I’ve defined my blog, it is a weblog of findings collected all over the internet, with the inclusion of personal thoughts, the documentation of an ongoing project, and bits of travelogue. As an international student, the blog doubles up as a continuous update of what’s happening for my friends and family back home.
In this project, I’m glad to have hardworking team members. Even though it was quite tough communicating to one another, I think we still did well. Each of us tried our best in contributing ideas, and doing work that was delegated. However, I felt that we should have made more use of our wiki page. We should have posted up our findings onto the wiki instead of each of our individual blogs.
As a whole, I found the whole design research process beneficial, as it can help me with future projects.
